Poor Black Family Surprised To Still Be Poor and Marginalized After Years of Obama

NEW YORK – The African-American Smith family, based out of Central Harlem, has woken up today surprised at still being as poor, black and marginalized as they were before President Obama’s innaugeration. “I remember voting for Obama in 2008,” says Martin Smith, “after he won I figured I’d have a job, respect and some quality of life. But the next day, nothing had changed, hell but I’m still unemployed.” As of press time, the Smith’s hope that another year of Obama will be what it takes to finally push them out of the poverty-riven margins of American society.
