Stephen Harper to Read Mean Tweets on Jimmy Kimmel Live
LOS ANGELES — Late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel is urgently asking for tweets about Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper as soon as you can send them.
Because Kimmel broke the news last night that Mr. Harper has agreed to appear on the segment of his show called “Celebrities Read Mean Tweets”.
“This could be bigger than when former Toronto Mayor Rob Ford came on the show and told our audience that he forgot to put on underwear that morning,” Kimmel said in his opening monologue last night.
“As some of you may know, Prime Minister Harper is a really private kinda guy and rarely talks to the media so if you want to send him a message and have him read it on air get those tweets in to me @jimmykimmel or right to the man himself @pmharper.”
“Somehow this leaked on Twitter yesterday and so far we’ve already received more than 8,000 tweets and I gotta tell ya they’re some of the most…umm…colorful ones I’ve ever seen. Our bleep censor team has their work cut out.”
“Even Mr. Harper’s home boy Ted Cruz has sent a Harper tweet that we’ll have the P.M. read…whole lotta man-crush going on there,” teased Kimmel.
Jimmy Kimmel Live is the number one rated late-night talk show, airing on the Comedy Network in Canada and on ABC in the United States. Previous guests on “Celebrities Read Mean Tweets” have included President Barack Obama, Sarah Palin, and the entire cast of the recently-mercy-killed gayish show Glee.
“So twitter me your Harper tweets right now…no holds barred…anything goes,” said Kimmel.
“Well, almost anything goes. Mr. Harper’s spokesman says he will not read tweets about the Canadian economy.”
